My pictures from the iCommons Summit. There are only nine of them. I did not remember to take that many and some were no good. But there are more pictures on flickr.

Upphovsrätt och CC i CS

June 17, 2005 at 15:53 | Tags: Creative Commons, Juridik, Swedish | 1 Comment

June 15, 2005 at 16:09 | Tags: Diverse, Swedish | No Comments

varje dag varje natt.

mozCC, the Mozilla/Firefox extension that reads Creative Commons license meta data and displays the appropriate CC icons right in your browser, has been updated.

mozCC is not new, I remember installing an early version ages ago, but I have not used it since some browser upgrade broke it. Now I have rediscovered it and it is still cool. :-D

openDemocracy Goes Creative Commons

Creative Commons: Making copyright work for democracy by Siva Vaidhyanathan - openDemocracy

openDemocracy.net has taken a major step toward enriching global democratic discussion by adopting Creative Commons licences for its articles.

Practically, the use of these licences grant participating openDemocracy authors (including myself) more control over how their works will echo through the world of digital text. They will encourage free republication and dissemination of their articles in non-commercial media across the globe.

Ideologically, the fact that this respected publication has opted in to the Creative Commons message makes a profound statement about the importance of openness and the dangers of a culture of excessive ownership.

The articles on openDemocracy deserve to be circulated and used in more than one context. They can be rich resources and raw materials for further scholarship, criticism, and journalism. Their authors often inspire new ways of doing politics. By joining openDemocracy in the Creative Commons, they inspire new ways of sharing and developing knowledge too. Democracy, like culture itself, must be a collaborative project.

Creative Commons & Webcomics

June 13, 2005 at 16:19 | Tags: Creative Commons, IP, English | No Comments

Traditional copyright faces webcomics with an uncomfortable choice. Its restrictions, properly enforced, would mean a virtual end to crossovers and homages, fan art, fan fiction, and many other staples that make the webcomic a more entertaining creation and foster artistic growth. A total lack of copyright, however, leaves unscrupulous readers free to “bootleg” subscription sites, program tools to deprive comics of advertising revenue, and even profit from others’ labor without permission. The Creative Commons license presents a possible solution.

Greatest Swede Ever?

The Local - Who is the greatest ever Swede?
For its small population, Sweden has churned out an awful lot of highly influential people over the last few centuries, covering science, literature, music, politics and commerce. But of all the Swedes who have sprung from this fair land, who is “the greatest”?

Hm, Yngwie Malmsteen perhaps? Or maybe Jonas Hellborg? ;-) Seriously, once you leave the mainstream, there’s plenty of cool Swedish music.
