“Musik sprids i dag som vinterkräksjukan på nätet och det krävs kraftfulla åtgärder om den utvecklingen ska gå att stoppa”, skriver juristen Jesper Sellin på CS Debatt.

Hans huvudpoäng är att att de föreslagna ändringarna i upphovsrättslagen inte är bra och att man i stället borde kompensera rättighetshavare genom avgifter som läggs på kostnaden för internetuppkopplingen.

Copyswede stämmer Jens of Sweden

I går lämnades en stämningsansökan riktad mot Jens of Sweden in vid Västmanlands tingsrätt i Västerås. I ansökan hävdar Copyswede att Jens of Sweden bryter mot upphovsrättslagens bestämmelser om ersättning för privatkopiering genom att inte betala privatkopieringsersättning.

Reklam-TV förlorade

Regissörerna Claes Eriksson och Vilgot Sjöman vann över TV 4. Stockholms tingsrätt anser att reklamavbrotten i långfilmerna “Hajen som visste för mycket” och “Alfred” var kränkande för upphovsmännens egenart. *

Jag vet inte riktigt vad jag ska tycka. Jag kanske ska börja med att påpeka att jag inte läst domen. Visst tycker jag att regissörerna har en poäng. Jag har hört Claes Eriksson hålla föredrag om målet och om hur kränkt han känner sig. Samtidigt börjar jag mer och mer tycka att om man publicerar ett verk så får man tåla en del. Man har alltid valet att inte publicera det.

Chefsrådman Martin Holmgren var skiljaktig. Han anser inte att den konstnärliga integriteten hos regissörerna har angripits, eftersom alla vet om att det förekommer reklambrott, och att dessa inte har något med filmerna att göra. *

Rådmannen har onekligen en poäng.

Code v2

This is really cool. Lawrence Lessig’s book Code and other Laws of Cyberspace will be put in a wiki, updated and republished.

Beginning in February, we’ll be posting Version 1 of Code to a Wiki. “Chapter Captains” will then supervise updates and corrections. Depending upon the progress, sometime near June, I will take the product and edit and rewrite it to produce Code, v2. The Wiki will stay live forever (under a Creative Commons license). The edited book will be published in the fall. I have donated my advance for Code, v2 to Creative Commons. All royalties beyond the advance will be donated as well.

At this point, we’re collecting “Chapter Captain” (CCs, of course) volunteers. CCs should be expert in the subject of the chapter, and willing to work through the Wiki to produce an updated chapter. (Here’s the table of contents.)

This seems really cool. But I have no time to check it out right now.

Off-the-Record (OTR) Messaging allows you to have private conversations over instant messaging by providing:

Encryption
No one else can read your instant messages.
Authentication
You are assured the correspondent is who you think it is.
Deniability
The messages you send do not have digital signatures that are checkable by a third party. Anyone can forge messages after a conversation to make them look like they came from you. However, during a conversation, your correspondent is assured the messages he sees are authentic and unmodified.
Perfect forward secrecy
If you lose control of your private keys, no previous conversation is compromised.
