Very interesting question. In a case like this, where the iPod was sold to a co-worker, I would say that it would be OK here in Sweden. Copying songs for a co-worker is a legal personal use anyway (unless the songs are work related, of course, 12 §).

However, many people sell their old computers with software installed. The personal use exemption does not apply to software so that is probably not legal, if they intend to keep the software themselves as well (and unless we’re talking about free software, of course).
