Behåbrottning

July 15th, 2011

I tisdagens DN skriver Carin Ståhlberg om den nya sporten behåbrottning.

Efter att själv ha provat sport-bh:ar i dag så kan jag bara hålla med henne: behåbrottning är helt klart nästa nya OS-gren efter innebandy!

OpenTox & Animal Use

July 15th, 2011

Stumbled across the Open Source Project OpenTox.

The goal of OpenTox is to develop an interoperable predictive toxicology framework which may be used as an enabling platform for the creation of predictive toxicology applications. http://www.opentox.org/

It might not be obvious (??) from reading this but OpenTox is actually our friend!! The aim of this project is to develop software that can be used instead of animal testing, reducing animal suffering!!

GnuGirl approves.

Read about it over at IT World: http://www.itworld.com/software/180129/10-best-unknown-open-source-projects

New RAM for Old Netbook

July 14th, 2011

My Netbook needed more RAM so I ordered one. Now when I got it I realise that it’s actually bigger than my computer.

Could this be a problem?

HP recommended another memory but I thought it was too expensive. Now when I got the cheap one I’m beginning to regret my stinginess….

Happy Hacking in Gothenburg

October 31st, 2007

A Conference for Serious Hackers, but hopefully interesting for us n00bs  as well, is arranged by Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE):

FSCONS or the Free Software Conference in Scandinavia

There will be lots of exciting happenings and exciting people; like a Key Signing Party and lots of interesting lectures, including one about the rare ch1X0r.

This grand event takes places in December:

7th & 8th of December to be precise, which happens to be a Friday and a Saturday, and the chosen location is the IT-University in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Now this means that in addition to being able to take the ferry for a picturesque trip to Göteborg University Lindholmen, you also get to visit Gothenburg in December; meaning Christmas markets galore!

And in case you worry about getting seasick there is a bus…

There is also conference fee, but you can get a student discount as well as an early booking discount!

So be sure to register now, because lots of kewl  things are going to happen!!!

Be there or be square! :P

Another Article About rms in IDG

May 24th, 2007

The article, which is in Swedish, is entitled Om befrielsen av cyberspace – ett samtal med Richard Stallman Since I have a master’s thesis to write I will have to wait until tonight to actually read it but I scanned the first couple of paragraphs quickly and I was very intrigued by this quote:

Redan efter ett par blickar över publiken står det dock klart att de flesta antagligen redan tillhör hans meningsfränder. Inte en slips så långt ögat kan nå, IDG

Because it was really not my impression at all that the audience was some sort of uniform ‘hacker’ crowd, quite the contrary.

I was amazed by the diversity of people present, and I did see quite a few ties!!

The Hollywood Librarian

May 22nd, 2007

Just found out about the documentary the Hollywood Librarian over at LIS News.

According to the web site it is a documentary about:
“the realities of 21st century librarianship, including stereotyping, censorship and intellectual freedom,” the Hollywood Librarian

It sounds quite promising and it might be worth keeping track of its’ progress! ;-)

To find out more about the film read the press release at the ALA web site or watch one of these trailers over at YouTube:
